About this document
The KidMap playground database is built from open data. This page lists the sources, their licences, and the attributions they require. It is the formal attribution notice required by those licences.
OpenStreetMap
Part of the KidMap data comes from OpenStreetMap.

This data contains information from OpenStreetMap and the OpenStreetMap Foundation, which is made available under the Open Database License (ODbL 1.0).

Municipal and government open data
Where a municipality or a government body publishes an official playground register, KidMap uses it instead of, or alongside, the OpenStreetMap data. That data is used under the relevant open data licences (most commonly CC BY 4.0 or a national open data licence), and copyright remains with the publishing bodies.
Vilnius City Municipality — playground register and photos (gis.vplanas.lt). Photos for those playgrounds are not copied: they are loaded directly from the municipality's server.
Wikimedia Commons — some playground photos. Those files are usually published under CC BY-SA licences, so each such photo is shown with its author and licence. The photos are not copied: they are loaded directly from commons.wikimedia.org.
A full per-country list of the sources in use is available on request at appkidmap@gmail.com.
Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Israel
Singapore — Contains information from Park Facilities and NParks Parks and Nature Reserves accessed on 10 October 2026 from data.gov.sg which is made available under the terms of the Singapore Open Data Licence version 1.0 https://data.gov.sg/open-data-licence. The data is published by the National Parks Board (NParks); its use does not imply that NParks endorses KidMap.
Taiwan — data used under the Government Open Data License, version 1.0 (政府資料開放授權條款-第1版, https://data.gov.tw/license): Taipei City Government — Parks and Street Lights Office (臺北市政府工務局公園路燈工程管理處), Department of Social Welfare (臺北市政府社會局) and Hydraulic Engineering Office (臺北市政府工務局水利工程處); New Taipei City Government — High-Water-Level Land Engineering Management Office, Water Resources Department (新北市政府水利局高灘地工程管理處); Taichung City Government — Construction Bureau (臺中市政府建設局); Tainan City Government — Public Works Bureau (臺南市政府工務局).
Hong Kong — Contains data from the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Government of the Hong Kong SAR, obtained from DATA.GOV.HK (https://data.gov.hk). Intellectual property rights in the data are owned by the Government of the Hong Kong SAR. Used under the DATA.GOV.HK Terms and Conditions of Use (https://data.gov.hk/en/terms-and-conditions).
Israel — playground data from the Beer Sheva Municipality (מקור המידע: עיריית באר שבע, data.gov.il), used under the data.gov.il terms of use (https://data.gov.il/he/terms-of-use).
Playgrounds in Liechtenstein and Puerto Rico, and the rest of the playgrounds in these countries, come from OpenStreetMap.
Apple Maps
The map, address search, directions, and Look Around imagery are provided by Apple through MapKit, subject to Apple's terms and the attributions shown on the map itself.
Google Places
When a playground has no photo from KidMap users and no Apple Look Around imagery, KidMap may show a photo of the place — or of the surrounding park — provided by Google Places. Google's own component renders the photo together with its required Google branding and photographer attribution, which KidMap does not alter, cover, or remove. These photos are not KidMap content: we do not download, copy, or store them, and they may change or disappear at any time.
Inappropriate words list
The text filter that keeps profanity out of published content uses a word list compiled by KidMap. It is partly based on the "List of Dirty, Naughty, Obscene and Otherwise Bad Words" (© Shutterstock, Inc. and contributors), licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). The list has been modified: entries were selected, adapted to the app's languages, and supplemented with Lithuanian words. Data errors and licensing questions
If you spot incorrect or outdated playground information, report it in the app (playground screen → Report a problem). You can also fix OpenStreetMap data directly at openstreetmap.org — the correction will reach the next KidMap data update.
If you hold rights in any data or photo and believe the attribution is wrong or the content is used without a basis, write to appkidmap@gmail.com and we will correct or remove it.
